First Time Homebuyer's Tax Credit:
First time homebuyers who have an accepted purchase contract dated on or before April 30, 2010 are eligible for a tax credit of up to $8,000.  To qualify, each purchaser may not have owned a residence during the three years prior to the purchase.  The tax credit is only available when buying a primary residence.  The closing must occur by June 30, 2010.

 

Move-up/Repeat Homebuyer Tax Credit:
Current homeowners who have an accepted purchase contract dated between November 7, 2009 and April 30, 2010 and who have used the home being sold or vacated as a principal residence for five consecutive years within the last eight, can be granted a tax credit equal to 10% of the home's purchase price up to a maximum of $6,500, or up to $3,250 for a married individual filing separately.  Both homeowner and spouse must meet the occupancy requirement.  The closing must occur by June 30, 2010.
